HyCyte® Oil Red O Staining Solution (Stock Solution)

Oil Red O dye is a member of the Sudan dye family and is a lipid-soluble azo dye. It stains distinctly and is easy to observe, mainly used for fat/lipid staining. Oil Red O is more soluble in fat than in the staining solution; when tissue sections/cells are placed in the stain, the dye leaves the solution and dissolves in the lipids (e.g., lipid droplets) within the tissue/cells, thereby coloring the lipid droplets red or orange-red.
